Sun Peaks wine festival

Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia is reporting success with its 16th annual Winter Okanagan Wine Festival, which wrapped up last Sunday.

“The festival is of key importance to the community,” says Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks. “It attracts first time visitors to Sun Peaks and provides an exceptional vacation experience unlike any other in Canada.”

This year’s festival culminated with festival goers sampling wines from 30 different British Columbia wineries during The WestJet Progressive Tasting.

Tourism Sun Peaks is reporting resort occupancy was up four per cent from the previous year over the last week of the festival, and the month of January is pacing 11 per cent ahead of last year. Guests enjoyed the favourable snow conditions in BC’s Interior region and clear and sunny skies, perfect for skiing and snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, snowmobiling and other outdoor winter adventures.

Once again, Sun Peaks has proven to be the perfect venue for the Okanagan Wine Festival Society’s annual Winter Okanagan Wine Festival. The next Winter Okanagan Wine Festival takes place January 17-25, 2015.

“The incredible partnership between Sun Peaks Resort and the Okanagan Wine Festivals has not only lasted 16 years but just keeps getting better,” says Nancy Greene-Raine, director of skiing for Sun Peaks Resort. “The creativity, the planning and the absolute professionalism in execution is a great example of the Canadian business spirit alive and prospering.”
