Out here on the beautiful B.C. coast – aka Powder Wonderland – we’re getting revved up for an epic season of skiing and boarding.
We’ve been watching the snow reports and weather daily – and we can’t seem to wipe the grins off our faces, we’re so eager to hit the slopes.
We’re pretty sure you’ll want to check it out, too.

If the last couple of seasons are any indication, we’re headed for a winter that’s promising heaps of snow at Whistler Blackcomb.
It’s easy enough to get to BC’s coast, flying into Vancouver and then hopping on a comfy bus that will take you up the scenic Sea to Sky Highway. You’ll be dropped off at the jaw-dropping centre of the iconic ski resort where the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were held.
You’ll instantly know you’re in a place so incredibly different than your usual Ontario ski resorts. The first clue will be those majestic mountains and all that elevation. You’ll be spoiled for groomed ski runs at the two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb, connected by the world’s longest Peak to Peak gondola. There are also plenty of powder stashes along the way to keep you gleefully occupied for days.
When the sun sets on your ski day, you won’t have to leave the village to find your apres fun. Cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops and accommodations for every taste and budget can be found at Whistler Village, all walkable.
You’ll find it’s easy to get into the spirit of local traditions, like listening to the cult favourite apres ski band, Hairfarmers. Or sidle up to the bar with a few friends for an all-together-now shot ski – literally shot glasses on a ski.
And for something you won’t find anywhere else in Canada, you can start the day with a Fresh Tracks breakfast at the top of a mountain.
As you gaze at the ski runs over a hot breakfast, you can plan which runs you’ll soon be cruising down – and you’ll wonder why you didn’t get out here sooner.
