The Lake Louise Ski Resort has officially smashed its seasonal snowfall record. With 73cm in the past week alone, the previous record of 755cm in 2011/12 was passed with a total of 760cm as of 4:00 pm May 6. And the snow keeps coming.
The Lake Louise Ski Resort is into its final week of skiing after extending its closing date to May 11 following the snowiest March on record. The closing day Mountain Funk Jam celebrations will include retro ski costumes, live music, bands and a hot dog eating contest at the Kokanee Kabin.
Sunshine Village will continue to keep skiers and snowboarders happy with runs open until May 19. The season will close out with the 86th annual Sunshine Village Slush Cup on the final day of skiing in Banff National Park.
Summer isn’t far around the corner! The Lake Louise Ski Resort will quickly turn operations around for the opening of the summer sightseeing gondola on May 15. Mt. Norquay will open the brand NEW Via Ferrata to the public mid-June, and Sunshine Village will welcome hikers to Sunshine Meadows this summer also.
