S-Media Unveils New Structure & Growth Plan
Changes include departure of Co-Founder Chris Robinson
COLLINGWOOD, Ont. (Fri., July 8, 2016) – Snowsports Media Inc., North America’s only multi-media platform and ski media production company, today announced plans to take the next step in the evolution of its media properties and business expansion that will include the departure of one of the company’s co-founders.
Longtime snowsports leader Chris Robinson, Ski Television founder and executive producer, is leaving his role as S-Media president to focus efforts on Double Black Diamond Productions, a company he founded in 1993, and the many volunteer positions he holds in the snowsports community.
Robinson has played an active role in nearly all facets of snowsports over the past 30 years – from competitive freestyle skier, coach, instructor, ski event organizer and media personality. The 2009 Canadian Ski Hall of Fame inductee currently serves many volunteer roles, including Chairman of the FIS Freestyle Skiing Committee, President of the Canadian Snowsports Association, board member of both the Canadian Ski Council and the Ski Canada Foundation.
“Chris is a true leader in snowsports and somebody I am proud to call a mentor,” said Mark Kristofic, S-Media co-founder and partner. “His legacy in S-Media and Ski Television will live on for years. Looking ahead, I’m really excited by our company’s commitment to enhance and refine our programming and our content structure as well as oversee S-Media further expansion into new areas of business,” Kristofic said.
In addition to future refinement of S-Media’s ski properties, Kristofic said the company is boldly pursuing its continued expansion in the marketing and production realm. “S-Media has a significant advantage and leadership position in that our company creates its own content across all four major media platforms of print, broadcast, digital and social. We intend to be the premier sports content marketing group in the country.”
Part of this expansion includes the addition of sports executive and business advisor, Ken Villazor, who joins the S-Media as a partner. Villazor, is an advisor to the Owner and Chairman of the Ottawa Senators and has more than 25 years of experience in communications, business development, public relations, corporate affairs, government relations and philanthropy that will bode well for S-Media’s strategic planning and future growth.
On the ski media side of the business, Gordie Bowles, S-Mag editor and co-founder of S-Media, will assume additional responsibilities including overseeing content development on all media platforms as Editorial Director under the company’s new structure. “One of my top business priorities is to have S-Media engage and harness the largely untapped potential of influential and recognizable blog content providers to exponentially increase our digital reach within the snowsports community across North America.”
Ashley Herod-Tait will continue as S-Media’s Director of Business Development overseeing the company’s sales and partnership activities.
