Sun Peaks’ Santa Alpine Visit will take place December 14 from 3pm to 5pm. Kids and adults alike can get in the festive spirit with a host of activities, including professional photos with Santa himself.

“After the great success of this event last winter, we are excited to be offering even more complimentary holiday-inspired activities,” says Janice Nankivell, events manager with Tourism Sun Peaks. “We will have maple taffy pops made right in the snow, musical performances by B3 Kings, storytelling with elves, plus a lot more throughout the village, which will be decorated and glowing with Christmas lights.”

Market vendors will be selling a variety of handmade items providing the perfect opportunity for unique gift shopping. And no Christmas event would be complete without sipping hot apple cider and a tour sampling select village restaurants’ delicious holiday fare.

Sun Peaks’ winter activity operators will be on hand demonstrating snowshoeing, horse drawn sleigh rides and dog sledding. Families can take part in Gingerbread Man decorating and hear the Christmas Angel read a poem from above the village roof tops.

“It’s a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday experience,” says Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks. “The village offers the perfect opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle and spend time with your friends and family, which is really what this time of year is about.”

Alpine Images will be providing professional photos with Santa between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. which can be purchased for $10.

Shortly before Christmas, from December 22 to 24, Santa will return to Sun Peaks for last minute gift requests and ice skating, skiing and breakfast with families. And there is no better place to ring in 2014 than the base of Sundance Mountain with thousands of guests, featuring the traditional First Flight Big Air Invitational, Torchlight Parade and fireworks on December 31.
