Some of the finest early season skiing in B.C. is even better today, with 14 cm of fresh snow blanketing the mountain and village at Sun Peaks and even more snow reported falling in the alpine. Over another 10 cm is forecast to fall tonight and throughout the weekend, making for excellent skiing and riding conditions on all three mountains. Sun Peaks has maintained very good snow conditions throughout the season thus far, particularly in the alpine which currently has a 99 cm base.
Additional ski runs opened today including East Bushwacker, Sting, Grand Return and Upper Intimidator. More terrain is currently being prepared to open tomorrow with cool temperatures and more snow in the immediate forecast. There are plans for almost 100 per cent of terrain to be open for Sunday.
“Looking more long term towards the holidays we are expecting another 20 to 30 cm of new snow by Christmas,” says Jamie Tattersfield, head of mountain operations for Sun Peaks Resort Corporation. “This means the entire mountain will be open and covered in that light, dry powder we are so well known for.”
Sun Peaks’ Nordic network is 100 per cent open with fantastic grooming and conditions on all cross country trails.
