BC’s Silver Star Mountain Resort launched its new MyMtnFlexiCard today as the resort prepares for a Nordic Opening of November 9 and an Alpine Opening of November 28th. Silver Star also announced BC residents will qualify for 50% off lift tickets on BC Family Day on February 10, 2014.

The MyMtnFlexiCard costs $179 and reduces an adult day ticket to $60. The new card is valid for three days of skiing/snowboarding, any three days of the winter season. Day lift tickets are all-inclusive, meaning the pass includes free daily access to alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tubing, skating, and snowshoeing. After the three days are used, the card will continue to provide discounts of up to 20% and 15% off on lift tickets for the remainder of the 2013-14 winter season.

The deadline to buy the MyMtnFlexiCard is December 26, 2013 and it is available only to residents of BC, Alberta and Washington State. The new card can only be purchased online at www.skisilverstar.com Full details on the FlexiCard are available at: www.winter.skisilverstar.com/mymtn-flexicard

Silver Star Mountain Resort will open its Nordic skiing this Friday Nov. 9 and announced that Alpine Skiing will start early this year with an opening day now scheduled for November 28, 2013. The recent storm in the Valley resulted more than 30 centimetres of snow over 24 hours at Silver Star this past weekend. Brad Backer, director of operations at Silver Star has been at the resort for the last 23 winters.

Baker says, “Snow tends to come about now, but not this volume in one storm. This early in the season we expect a mixed bag of weather but its full-on winter right now allowing for the early opening.”

Silver Star is introducing new activities and features for the holiday season including a new Ski/Board Cross, and heli-skiing adventures.

“It’s going to be an exciting year as we will get an early start,” says Anne Haight, director of sales and marketing, Silver Star Mountain Resort, “This year we are unveiling The Zone at Silver Star where for the first time skiers will be able to practice aerial jumps with a Katal airbag or learn to ski on wider, beginner slopes.”
