An historic moment occurred last week at Quebec’s Mont-Sainte-Anne: The installation of the towers of the mountain’s new high-speed quad chairlift.
A fabulous video of helicopters installing the towers can be seen at: vimeo.com/78095284
[with English subtitles].
The new lift, named La Panorama-Express, is a Dopplemayr detachable quad chair, manufactured in St-Jérôme, Québec.
Mont-Sainte-Anne’s new lift will cut lift time in half and serve more skiable terrain; it opens December 15, 2013.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Lift capacity : 1 800 skiers / hour
Speed : 5 metres / second
Length : 1,8 km / 526 m vertical drop [Expert Area, South Side]
Helicopters : Nearly 30 hours of work for concrete and towers operations
This helicopter model can lift up to 4000 pounds. The longest towers had to be moved in two parts, due to the huge weight.
