With another ‘Toonie Day’ in the books, Sun Peaks Resort has once again broken fundraising records, as they continue to raise the bar for charitable donations at the annual event.
On Monday, December 7th, visitors from all over the province were able to receive a lift pass to Canada’s second largest ski area for only $2, plus the donation of a non-perishable food item. This initiative drew large crowds with 4,670 lift passes scanned in the single day, including season pass holders. This translated to a profit of over $8500 with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the Kamloops Food Bank.
Sun Peaks Resort Director of Sales and Marketing, Aidan Kelly, expressed his excitement for the record-breaking achievement, “We are ecstatic that we have once again been able to surpass our goal and break the record for donations received on our Toonie Day at Sun Peaks. The Kamloops Food Bank is an important organization and we are happy to partner with such an integral service to the Kamloops area communities.”
Attendance for the event smashed the previous record set in 2004, which saw 3,786 tickets scanned.
